The Missing Piece: The Body in the Therapy Room (Part 1)
**This training will take place on Zoom**
Learn to incorporate somatic tools into your therapy practice, and add new depth and control to your work by learning how to sense, notice and understand what the body is saying. Applying the latest neuroscience research, you will be able to create strength and safety, tame dysregulated emotion and work with stress and trauma. There will be an emphasis on building resilience, as well as experiential exercises to practice new interventions.

Course Content Level – Beginning/Introductory.
Course Objectives
After this course, students will be able to:
-Teach their clients the neurobiology of trauma in a simple, concise manner.
-Track the body in session, without language.
-Define neuroplasticity and Somatic Intervention
-Identify contributions of Gendlin, Siegel, Janet, Porges, Levine, Rothschild, Ogden
-Describe the organization of the triune brain
-Recognize sympathetic/parasympathetic response in clients and in self
-Identify the stages of the threat response
-Distinguish between mobilizing and immobilizing responses
-Discover unique resources for each client, in each moment
-Identify blocked action sequences
-Recognize physiological release in the body
-Translate sensory experience to cognitive awareness
-Associate thought and emotion to body awareness
-Demonstrate the power of pacing and dosing
-Illustrate the use of self-touch for regulation
-Illustrate techniques for grounding and centering
-Discover the power of alternating between different states
-Regulate physiological arousal in client, and in self
-Interrupt habitual patterns to create new neural pathways
-Identify the missing piece in each situation, and treat accordingly

Satisfactory Completion
Participants must have paid tuition fee, signed in and out each day, attended the entire seminar, and completed an evaluation, And signed out in order to receive a certificate.
